Circular Peyote Collar I (i)

I'm still getting the hang of this blogging lark. I've managed to take a photo (albeit with a non-autofocus camera) and upload it and next time I hope to have a better quality one.

Anyway... the beads... which is what I DO know how to do.

This collar is my own design and took about 20 hours to make. The medallion is an adaptation of Lisa Kan's "Pearly Mosaic" in the June/July 2007 issue of Beadwork magazine. It's choker length and the dangles fill the neckline. It would also look good with a strapless evening dress.

BASIC MEDALLION:-

You need

  • 15s in 2 colours (A) and (B)

  • 11s in 1 colour(C)

  • 4 - 6 mm round for centre

  • Nymo in a toning colour

Rows 1&2 Thread 20A on about 24 inches of thread and make into a circle. Take needle through first 3-5 beads again.

Row 3 Pick up 1A. Skip a bead and take needle though 2nd bead in the circle. Repeat 9 times. Step up.

Row 4 Pick up 2B and go through the 1A. Repeat 9 times. Step up.

Row 5 Pick up 1C and go through the 2B. Repeat 9 times. Step up.

Row 6 Pick up 2C and go through the 1C. Repeat 9 times.

Go all the way round the circle again to strengthen then add the round bead to the centre.

Oooh, thank you for posting directions, I might have to make one for myself :D

Do you have an Ott-Light? They work very nicely for lighting your beadwork photography.

I've seen them advertised but, like the camera, it's something I'm saving up for that will pay for itself in the end.
